Last week, Pastor Adam preached about the fire of the Spirit—not as a destructive force but one that purifies and ignites a passion for knowing and serving God. This Sunday, Pastor Greg Gallaher will talk about the Holy Spirit as God’s life-giving breath. As you prepare for worship this weekend, you’re encouraged to pray this ancient prayer by Saint Augustine—a brilliant theologian, philosopher, and bishop of the church in the fourth and fifth centuries.
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my
work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit,
that I love only what is holy.
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit,
to defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit,
that I may always be holy. Amen.
