Resentment becomes a quiet but powerful barrier to peace, causing us to feel overlooked, taken for granted, and treated unfairly. In looking at the older brother in the Parable of the Prodigal Son, we see how his resentment isolates him from joy, family, and celebration. Yet the father’s response models God’s healing grace: coming out to meet us, reminding us of our belonging, and inviting us back into community.
