Overcoming Possessions
OUMC

Acts 5:1–11 confronts us with the uncomfortable truth that possessions can quietly take hold of our hearts and disrupt the peace God intends for us. Ananias and Sapphira’s story isn’t about the amount they gave—it’s about the fear, dishonesty, and image‑management that grew from their attachment to what they owned. When possessions shape our identity or become the source of our security, they lead us toward anxiety, pretense, and spiritual fragmentation. Let us to loosen our grip, live with open hands, and rediscover the deep peace that comes from trusting God more than our stuff.
