Communion help needed!!! Are you willing to serve Communion on Sunday mornings as a Communion Server? Are you willing to learn how to set up for Communion and clean up after worship as a Communion Steward? Please contact the church office.
A Care Calendar has been set up for the Gira Family as David prepares for and undergoes treatment. Also, gift cards to Chick-fil-a or Starbucks would be appreciated, as David’s appointments at Duke are usually around lunch time.
IFC Homeless Shelter Dinner Thursday November 2: Help us serve 80-100 grateful guests at two locations on November 2! Our faithful crew of cooks will be in the church kitchen from about 3:00 to cook and organize the food, which we will transport at about 5:15. Serving at the old shelter is at 6. Please join us by participating in any of those activities or donating food (meats, vegetables, hearty starches) by 5 pm on Thursday, earlier for those items needing heating or cooking. New Bible Study! Is there actually more to life than accumulating health, wealth & prosperity? Is the chronic pursuit with getting ahead, success and stability boarder-lining an obsession in your life? Join pastor Wallace on a journey to freedom in an original Bible study looking at reclaiming the biblical sense of stewardship: “A New Way of Being.” Wednesdays 6:30-7:30, beginning Nov. 8.
Backpack Buddies needs the following items for distribution to our Pathways Elementary children: spaghetti sauce (no glass jars), cereal/granola bars. There is a bin in the back of the Fellowship Hall to receive these items.
Our First Annual Christmas Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 18th & Sunday, November 19th in the huts. Come out and stock up on homemade crafts for Christmas gifts and decorations; home-baked cakes, pies & desserts for your holiday meals (or just your random Tuesday sweet-tooth); and homemade canned goods (like Brunswick stew) to make meal prep a breeze during the busy holiday season. Bakers can pick up cake and pie boxes in the church office. As we approach Thanksgiving, the Parenting Missional Community is organizing outreach to New Hope Elementary School in Hillsborough. Students at NHES are in need of socks and underwear!
Please visit the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall and choose a tag to take. Return the tag attached to the assigned size of socks or underwear as soon as you are able. All donations are due in the Fellowship Hall no later than December 3rd. Let’s shower NHES with love as we give thanks for all our blessings in this Thanksgiving season!
Do you want to sharpen your listening skills and learn to be more compassionate? Then we have an opportunity for you! A new training class for Stephen Ministry will start either January 8th or 15th, 2018, with some other congregations that have a Stephen Ministry program.
